Doctor of Philosophy in Crop Science


The PhD in Crop Science and PhD in Animal Science are three-year graduate degree programs aim to harness the academic, skills and competencies of graduate students in research, extension and the development of professionals working in the academe, government units, non-government organizations and agricultural enterprises.

The program is duly approved per BOT Res # 03 s. 2012 dated March 15, 2012.

Graduate students must earn 64 units, broken down as follows:

  • 9 units Core Courses
  • 24 units Major Courses
  • 15 units Cognate Course
  • 3 units Foreign Language
  • 1 unit Graduate Seminar
  • 12 units Dissertation

Admission Requirements

  • application for admission, 3 candid appraisals from former professors/current employer, transcript of Records (original and photocopy), and graduate admission test.
  • Qualifying examination shall be conducted after the candidate has earned 12 units of graduate courses.
  • The degree can be completed in a minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 7 years.
  • Awarded as the Center of Development in Agriculture (COD) by virtue of CHED CMO No. 38, S. 2015.
  • The program has award-winning, competent and highly qualified faculty dedicated to working with and educating students
  • Afforded by CHED as one of the delivering Higer education institution on Advance Courses in Agriculture for¬†Region X and neighboring regions in Mindanao (CHED CMO No. 10 S, 2016).
