This pertains to the recruitment, retention, and gratuity of outstanding faculty members by enhancing the faculty member’s scholarly efforts and/or research program. In such cases, the position and/or specific discipline—not the specific person—is supported by the endowment

Qualifications

  • A doctorate degree
  • Must be a tenured full-time faculty member with at least a rank of Associate Professor; must have had a teaching load/overload in the last 5 years. However, the first professorial chair that will be granted by the University will be awarded to a full-time teaching faculty member.
  • A first-time awardee of Professorial Chair; if awarded from a previous higher education institution the five-year consecutive service to the University will apply.
  • At least five (5) years of consecutive service to the University
  • Credible research track in the field of specialization
    • At least two (2) publications in ISI-or SCOPUS-indexed journal and their equivalent in the last five years
    • Patent and/or copyrighted authorship of at least one (1) book.

Documentary Requirements

  • Patent and/or copyright
  • Research abstract and publication credentials.
  • Concise and updated curriculum vitae (extracted from PDS) of the applicant
  • Recommendation Letter from the Chancellor.

Obligation of the Grantee

  • Must conduct at least 2 public lectures with University system-wide participants and the invited public
  • Must author and produce a training module for any of the fourfold functions in instruction, research, extension and production; or work-based handbook/guideline for career-readiness.
