USTP Claveria participates in PTESDC and TESDA TAC joint meeting on TVET development

Dr. Eric Randy R. Politud, Vice Chancellor for Research, Innovation, and Extension (VCRIE) of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria), participated in the CY 2026 Second Quarter Joint Meeting of the Provincial Technical Education and Skills Development Committee (PTESDC) and the TESDA Technology Institutions’ Advisory Council (TAC) on June 23, 2026, at Limketkai Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

Representing USTP Claveria as a council member, Dr. Politud joined representatives from the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), local government units, industry partners, and technical education institutions in discussions on the advancement of technical-vocational education and training (TVET) in Misamis Oriental.

The meeting served as a platform for government, industry, and academic stakeholders to discuss policies and initiatives that strengthen skills development and workforce preparedness. Key agenda items included the endorsement of TESDA Misamis Oriental’s 2026 Kabalikat and Idol ng TESDA nominees, the proposed incentive program for Community Training and Employment Coordinators, the realignment of Institutional Development Plan programs, and updates on community-based training initiatives.

The advisory council also discussed institutional development concerns, including the proposed amalgamation of TESDA RTC Tagoloan and PTC Misamis Oriental, the implementation of the Adopt-a-School Program, diploma program alignment, and matters related to school administration and program registration. The meeting was attended by representatives from TESDA Technology Institutions and partner organizations, including the PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority, local government units, the Northern Mindanao Chamber of Industries, San Miguel Brewery, Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines, and other industry and education stakeholders.

Through Dr. Politud’s participation, USTP Claveria contributed to policy discussions that support the continuous improvement of technical-vocational education and workforce development in the province. The University’s engagement in the council reflects its commitment to strengthening collaboration among government, industry, and academic institutions while advancing research, innovation, extension, and human resource development in Northern Mindanao.
