Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Ranking

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) has achieved a major milestone in its global sustainability journey, earning recognition across all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the 2026 Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings.

The achievement marks USTP’s most comprehensive performance to date in the international rankings, reflecting the University’s expanding contribution to sustainable development through education, research, innovation, and community engagement. The recognition represents a remarkable progression from participation in four SDGs in 2023, five in 2024, and 11 in 2025.

USTP also retained its position within the 1001–1500th global bracket in the overall 2026 THE Impact Rankings, underscoring its sustained commitment to advancing the United Nations’ development agenda.

According to Times Higher Education, the 2026 rankings evaluated 1,646 universities from 116 countries and territories across 17 individual SDG categories and an overall ranking. The THE Impact Rankings remain the world’s only global performance table that assesses universities based on their progress toward achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

USTP was also listed as a Reporter in both the 2026 World University Rankings and Asia University Rankings.

Webometrics

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) continues to take its place in international rankings.

Just recently, the university rose 79 spots in the Global Ranking for the January 2023 edition of the Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. The university ranked 5,933rd in the July 2022 edition. Now, the USTP has landed on the 5,854th spot!

The USTP System also took the 26th spot in the National Ranking, a step up from last year’s 27th spot.

The Webometrics Ranking of World Universities is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), the largest public research body in Spain.

AD Scientific Index

The USTP System ranked 20th among Public Universities in the Philippines and 33rd among General Universities in the AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index) 2024, released on October 8, 2023. The university also ranked 45th among all types of institutions in the country.

ISO

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) is recommended for continued certification for ISO 9001:2015 after the Recertification Audit conducted last November 17 – 21, 2025, by external auditor SOCOTEC Certification Philippines.

The audit aims to check the continuous implementation of the Quality Management System (QMS) 9001:2015. The international standard checks the processes and activities to improve service effectiveness and efficiency.

EduRank

In the latest results published by EduRank, an independent metric-based ranking of 14,131 universities from 183 countries, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) went up 416 spots higher in world rankings and 179 spots higher in Asia.

The University also ranked 2nd out of 5 universities in Cagayan de Oro City and 50th out of 229 universities in the Philippines.

EduRank ranked the 100 best universities in the Philippines based on their reputation, research performance, and alumni impact. They processed 500,000 citations received from 58,800 publications made by 229 universities in the Philippines, measured the popularity of 1,093 recognized alumni, and utilized the largest reference database available to determine the rankings.

HE Higher Education Ranking

In the 2024 report released by the HE Higher Education Ranking on March 15, 2024, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) was ranked 81st among the 303 universities worldwide that participated.

The HE Higher Education Ranking is a scientific, academic, and research ranking institution that evaluates and ranks higher education institutions based on specific criteria and performance indicators that enhance its efficiency and performance. The general areas covered by the ranking include management of higher education institutions, the impact of the overall educational process, scientific research, internationalization, and the university’s relationship with society and the labor market.

This achievement reflects the USTP System’s commitment to academic and research excellence and its contribution to the higher education landscape on a global scale.

SUC Level

The USTP System continues to be one of the leading state universities in the Philippines by maintaining its Level IV Status as State University (Highest Distinction) as adjudged by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
