Delegates from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) strengthened their commitment to quality assurance during the 39th Annual National Conference and General Assembly of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), held from March 24–26 at Century Park Hotel, Manila.

With the theme “Advancing QA: Research, Science, and Technology for Transformative Education and Sustainable Development,” the three-day conference gathered quality assurance directors, accreditors, and university leaders from across the country to discuss innovations in accreditation, research, and institutional excellence.

USTP delegates, led by USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, included Ms. Ruby D. Tagocon; Dr. Isabelita C. Bodbod; Dr. Maribel S. Tizo; and Dr. Nueva D. Salaan from USTP Claveria; Mr. Laurence Marse B. Dagaraga and Dr. RJ Krista Raye Leocadio from USTP Cagayan de Oro; Dr. Glorimer L. Clarin from USTP Oroquieta; and Dr. Leny Q. Añasco from USTP Panaon.

A major highlight of the event was the launch of the new AACCUP survey instrument, which introduces updated accreditation standards and strengthens institutional evaluation systems. Key sessions also emphasized the role of science and technology in enhancing teaching, learning, and institutional performance.

Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis emphasized that quality assurance is centered on aligning, sustaining, and transforming higher education, while the re-election of Dr. Anthony M. Penaso as AACCUP President signaled continuity in advancing quality assurance initiatives nationwide.

USTP’s participation underscored its commitment to continuous improvement, accreditation readiness, and research-driven, transformative education.
