A total of 489 individuals proudly received their certificates during the Completion Ceremony for Non-Degree Programs at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Claveria, held on August 5, 2025, at USTP Claveria Gymnasium.
The ceremony officially began with the Declaration of Session Opening led by Chancellor Dr. Renato O. Arazo, followed by the presentation of candidates for graduation.

Dr. Alexander L. Ido, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, formally announced the graduates: 224 completers from the Certificate of Agricultural Science (CAS) and 252 completers from the Short-Term Course in Dairy Farm Assistantship (STC-DFA). One by one, the graduates proudly marched across the stage to receive their certificates in front of university officials, faculty, families, and guests.
Before the awarding of diplomas, Ms. Jackielyn U. Abao, Assistant Dean of the College of Agriculture, introduced Dr. Charly G. Alcantara, the College Dean, who then took the stage to confer the diplomas, congratulating the completers. Her presence underscored the academic rigor and institutional pride behind the programs.

A highlight of the ceremony was the keynote address delivered by Ms. Marie Alden Trisha Mercado-Suello, an alumna of USTP Claveria (MS Agriculture, Class of 2019) and now the Municipal Agriculturist of LGU Jasaan.
Ms. Suello expressed how proud and happy she was to see familiar faces among the parents in the audience—farmers and clients she has worked with closely in the field. It was, for her, a full-circle moment—witnessing the children of these hardworking individuals now stepping into the same field with fresh knowledge and renewed passion.
In her inspiring speech, she encouraged the graduates to see agriculture not only as a profession but as a purpose. “Life’s struggles are not setbacks—they are stepping stones. Let your challenges become your driving force,” she shared, to resounding applause.
She continued, emphasizing the deeper value of the agricultural field:
“Agriculture and dairy is not just about growing crops and raising livestock—it is about feeding lives, strengthening communities, and protecting our planet.”

In closing, Ms. Suello reminded the graduates that success is not defined by titles or wealth, but by the positive impact one creates. She urged them to stay rooted in humility, committed to service, and always guided by the principles they’ve learned throughout their academic journey.
Following the keynote message, Mr. Carl Dominic O. Canen, the top-performing graduate of the batch and a recipient of the High Merit Award, delivered the Address on Behalf of the Graduates. He reflected on the shared experiences of their cohort, expressing gratitude for the learning opportunities and calling on his fellow completers to carry their knowledge forward with pride and purpose.
“May you never lose the flame that ignites you, no matter how hard life gets. No matter how heavy it feels. No matter how dim the universe may become. Never lose your flame,” he said.
A reminder that Batch 2025 should always carry the inner fire forward, fueled by the support of the family, mentors, and faith.

Furthermore, Mr. Joshua Paul E. Gaspar, also awarded High Merit, led the Graduates’ Pledge while Hon. Gerum O. Salatan, USTP Board of Regents Member, led the Alumni Pledge—a solemn vow to uphold the values of service, sustainability, and excellence in their future endeavors.
The ceremony closed with the awarding of certificates and a commemorative photo opportunity with university officials, instructors, and proud families, celebrating a transformative milestone for the graduates.
