The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria (USTP Claveria) hosted the much-anticipated Arts and Culture Days with fun-filled, colorful, and artistic energy. The event of creativity and artistic expression brought together young talented artists in the community to compete in various visual art competitions. Each competition served as a platform for students to showcase their artistic abilities while reflecting on the rich culture and heritage of the region. The event was held at the USTP Claveria Grounds from March 3 to 4, 2025.
The event featured several major competitions, including the parade and emblem showdown, the poster making contest, the painting contest, the charcoal painting contest, and more. In the poster making contest, participants were given a specific theme related to the celebration, challenging them to create compelling visual narratives using colors, symbols, and compositions that best represented their interpretations. Meanwhile, the painting contest allowed competitors to explore their creativity through different techniques and styles, capturing the essence of the theme in their chosen mediums. Additionally, the charcoal painting contest gained attention for its striking monochrome artworks, where artists skillfully used shades and textures to bring their pieces to life.

As the competitions unfolded, students, faculty members, and guests gathered to witness the creative process firsthand. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as artists immersed themselves in their craft, transforming blank canvases into breathtaking masterpieces that embodied the spirit of Arts and Culture Days at USTP Claveria.

Key university officials expressed their support for the event, emphasizing the importance of nurturing artistic talent among students. In a heartfelt message delivered during the opening of the Arts and Culture Days celebration, USTP Claveria Chancellor Dr. Renato O. Arazo pointed out the deeper importance of the event, beyond mere performances and competitions.
Dr. Arazo welcomed participants and guests, describing the event as more than just a showcase of talent; it was a meaningful celebration of identity, heritage, and the collective passion for the arts. He emphasized that while the university pursues innovation in science and technology, it is equally important to honor and nurture creativity, which he referred to as the soul of innovation and the heart of our pursuit of excellence. “The arts give soul to our innovations, meaning to our progress, and heart to our pursuits. Here at USTP Claveria, we are not just thinkers — we are storytellers, dreamers, and bearers of culture and relation,” Dr. Arazo stated.

Moreover, Dr. Arazo encouraged the university community to deeply engage with the celebration—whether as artists, audience members, or supporters—recognizing the arts as an integral part of holistic education and community building.
As the event concluded, USTP Claveria reaffirmed its commitment to fostering artistic excellence and cultural pride, inspiring students to embrace their identities and share their stories through art.
