On a night of elegance, self-reflection, and genuine appreciation, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Balubal (USTP Balubal) marked its second batch of graduates with a Graduation Ball and Testimonial Dinner on July 19, 2025, at De Luxe Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City.

The initiations, led by Acting Campus Director Dr. Dennis A. Apuan, recognized 47 graduates of three programs: Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (BAT), Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd) major in Information and Communication Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT).

Wearing their best clothes, graduates assembled with faculty, community leaders, and university officials to celebrate the culmination of years of learning, sacrifice, and self-discovery. The ceremony was a farewell and celebration of perseverance, the achievement of the graduating class against the backdrop of a constant educational environment.
A total of 26 students received Latin honors. Six graduates, three from BAT and three from BTLEd, received Magna Cum Laude honors, and 20 received Cum Laude honors. These accolades, beyond academic excellence, symbolized dedication, perseverance, and the unwavering commitment of the students to their field of studies.

The keynote address delivered by Cagayan de Oro 2nd District Representative Congressman Rufus B. Rodriguez was one of the event’s highlights. He urged the graduates to be humble, dream high, and never forget to give back to their families and communities. He then pledged to assist the graduates and the faculty members as an expression of solidarity with the USTP academic community. In appreciation of his significant contribution to the establishment of USTP Balubal Campus through legislative endeavor, Congressman Rodriguez was awarded a Plaque of Appreciation by the campus.
His unwavering dedication to pursuing free access to quality education in the city has left an indelible mark on the institution and its students.

Event guests included USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, who congratulated the graduates and commended the cooperative spirit of the campus community, faculty, and staff, as well as community partners in building a dynamic and nurturing academic community.
Also present during the ceremony were Barangay Chairman Pablo Bactong, Balubal Sangguniang Barangay members, and other key community leaders, which reflected good coordination between the university and the local government in bringing education nearer to the youths.
The Graduation Ball and Testimonial Dinner was not just the end of a learning experience for Batch 2025 but also the beginning of something new as graduates start their future endeavors. With success firmly rooted in community awareness, excellence, and service, the night was a testament to dreams achieved and dreams yet to be chased.
