THE DEAN'S CORNER

About the Dean

Dennis A. Tarepe earned his Ph. D. in Mathematical Sciences (Applied Mathematics) degree in 2005 at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines with Dr. Roberto N. Padua as his adviser.  He also earned his M. S. in Applied Mathematical Sciences degree in the same university under the Commission on Higher Education – Mindanao Advanced Education Project (CHED-MAEP) scholarship.  One of his thesis advisers was Dr. Khursheed Alam, a visiting professor from Clemson University, South Carolina.

His baccalaureate degree is B. S. in Statistics, earned at the Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT), Iligan City.

He specializes in Robust Statistics.  However, he has also worked on finding patterns and correlations in large data via data mining and data analytics.  Some aspects of mathematical modeling, like forecasting, has also been his interest.

Currently, he is a Professor under the Department of Applied Mathematics (DAM), University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), Cagayan de Oro City.  He is also currently designated as the Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics (CSM).
