“Loading kayo akong laptop kay ubos kaayo iyang processor.”
Aler Pagente, University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) Oroquieta’s designated Campus Registrar, recounted her daily struggle when she was using her personal laptop.
Pagente is among the 16 regular and temporary faculty of USTP Oroquieta who were lent laptops for the conduct of classes through the Flexible Learning Program. The laptop is an Intel Core i5, 10th generation, 4 Core, 6M Cache one, and is equipped with a camera, Bluetooth, and an NVIDIA GeForce MX230 with 2GB GDDRS Video RAM, among others.
“Karon mas paspas na ang trabaho,” Pagente remarked.
Not only the faculty received assistance. Students of USTP Oroquieta also received load assistance from the University.

Two hundred ninety-one (291) Smart subscriber students from USTP Oroquieta received two hundred pesos mobile load in March, and one hundred pesos load in April of this year. For Globe subscribers, 153 students received one hundred pesos load, and 137 students received two hundred pesos load in March. A total of 290 Globe subscriber students were given one hundred pesos load in April.
When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country, USTP conducted classes through its Flexible Learning Program. The University has been helping the faculty and students in the conduct of the new normal classes through gadget and load assistance and mental health awareness webinars, among others.
