Agriculture students from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) secured second place in the Agriculture Category of the 19th Business Idea and Development Awards (BIDA) 2025, held on September 29, 2025, at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City.

The annual competition gathered more than 70 business ideas from colleges and universities across the country. Of these, 32 teams advanced to the second screening round, which required the submission of a full business plan and video presentation. Only 15 finalists were then selected to present their proposals in person, competing in five categories: Service, Technology, Food, Non-Food, and Agriculture.
USTP Claveria’s entry focused on converting agricultural waste into protein-rich feed for dairy cattle, an idea that highlights the potential of sustainable solutions in agribusiness.
The team was composed of student-researchers Francis Galleros Jr., Shania Torrejos, and Erika Tabigan, with Mr. Rosewin Sevandal serving as their coach.
Their recognition at the BIDA Awards shows the capability of USTP Claveria students to develop practical and innovative projects that address pressing issues in agriculture while contributing to the promotion of entrepreneurship nationwide.
