The College of Medicine of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO) celebrated its first Medicine Week from September 23 to 26, 2025. This event aligned with Proclamation No. 439, s. 1957, which designates the last week of September as Medicine Week throughout the country. With the theme “Together We Care: Planting the Roots of a Healthier Community,” the celebration provided an opportunity for students, faculty, and staff to come together and participate in activities that emphasized health and service. For the college, this event marked a significant milestone as it was its first time participating in the national observance since the program’s inception.

The four-day event was formally opened by Dr. Mitchel Dennis B. Gonzalez, Dean of the USTP College of Medicine, setting the tone for a week of learning, service, and camaraderie.

Medicine Week aims to promote health awareness and well-being in the community while honoring current and aspiring medical professionals. Students from all year levels felt more united as a result of the event, which strengthened their resolve to serve the country as future medical professionals. Throughout the week, there were team-building exercises, wellness activities, and academic development sessions that emphasized the abilities and traits of future medical professionals.

At USTP, Medicine Week 2025 was more than just a set of events; it was a celebration of community spirit, compassion, and service. Combining tradition, education, and friendship, the College reaffirmed its mission to produce future doctors who are not only skilled and informed but also rooted in the values of empathy and commitment to the Filipino people, particularly to underprivileged areas.
