The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP), through the Strategic Communication Office (STRATCOMM) of the USTP System, conducted the first USTP Ambassadors Hub on October 29–30, 2026, at the Cafeteria Function Room, USTP Cagayan de Oro. The two-day activity brought together the University’s pioneering student and employee ambassadors for capacity-building sessions on personal branding, public speaking, and effective communication.
The initiative aimed to strengthen the ambassadors’ skills, confidence, and professionalism in representing USTP during official activities and engagements. It also sought to deepen their understanding of the University’s identity, values, and programs.
As defined in The USTP Branding Manual, Volume 2: The USTP Marketing Standards, the USTP Ambassadors Program is a pool of dedicated student volunteers, personnel, and alumni who serve as the face of the University in its official print and digital materials. They also act as key contacts and advocates who help promote USTP programs, raise the University’s profile, lead engagement activities, and support university events such as campus tours, orientations, and ushering.
Ms. Anne Lorraine R. Sitoy, Director for Strategic Communication of the USTP System, welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of the ambassadors in representing the University. She encouraged them to embody USTP’s core values and demonstrate professionalism in their interactions with guests, stakeholders, and the wider community.
Mr. John David Scholz G. Oran, STRATCOMM USTP Ambassadors Coordinator, introduced the USTP Ambassadors Program and discussed the ambassadors’ roles in promoting the University’s identity, supporting institutional activities, and engaging with stakeholders.
The first day focused on personal branding and public speaking. Mr. Jerwin S. Borres, Director for Marketing and Recruitment for Internationalization of the Office of the Vice President for Global Engagement and Quality Assurance (OVPGEQA), led the session on personal branding. He discussed how individuals can build credibility and align their personal identity with the University’s mission, vision, and core values. He also highlighted the importance of maintaining a clear and consistent personal image that reflects the institution’s identity and values.
Meanwhile, Mr. Jhon Paulie Undag, Customer Relations for Export and Import of Evergreen Shipping Agency Philippines, facilitated the public speaking session, which covered confidence, voice projection, body language, and effective speech delivery. He also introduced practical techniques for organizing and delivering messages clearly, helping participants communicate with confidence and connect with their audiences.
The first day also featured a cultural evening where the ambassadors presented their respective campus identities and participated in activities that encouraged interaction and camaraderie among representatives from different campuses.
During the cultural evening, USTP Jasaan was recognized as the Most Participative Campus, while Eloise Amoncio of USTP Claveria and Roy Pepito Pagapular of USTP Jasaan were named Ambassadors of the Night.
The second day focused on photo and video production featuring the USTP Ambassadors, facilitated by the STRATCOMM Core Team and the USTP Trailblazer Production (TrailProd). The production activities provided opportunities for the ambassadors to take part in visual content that will support the University’s corporate and promotional communication materials.
Through the USTP Ambassadors Hub, STRATCOMM continues to develop a pool of capable and confident university representatives who can communicate the USTP identity, embody its core values, and help strengthen the University’s public presence across its campuses and stakeholder communities.
