The faculty members of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Balubal, Misamis Oriental (USTP Balubal), conducted a benchmarking visit to USTP Panaon and USTP Oroquieta on March 20-21, 2025. The benchmarking visit aimed to assess and adopt best practices in facilities management, academic processes, and curriculum development as part of USTP Balubal’s ongoing efforts to pursue its Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) application.

During the visit to USTP Panaon, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Leny Quiawan-Añasco, USTP Panaon Campus Director, and Ms. Annielyn P. Lasagas, Head of Academic Affairs. The consultation focused on the campus’s academic systems, syllabus design, and operational standards, providing valuable insights into effective strategies for COPC readiness. The faculty also toured the campus facilities, observing the classrooms, laboratories, and learning resource centers, which showcased effective utilization of resources to support student learning.

The team also went to USTP Oroquieta, where they were graced by Dr. Glorimer Lumactud Clarin, USTP Oroquieta Campus Director, and Mr. Bernardo Crisilogo, Academic Head. The delegation was particularly interested in USTP Oroquieta’s Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) major in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) program, which is also offered at USTP Balubal. The visit provided the faculty with firsthand insights into the curriculum implementation, teaching methodologies, and compliance practices specific to the BTLED-ICT program. Additionally, the team conducted a thorough assessment of the campus facilities, including ICT laboratories, technical workshops, and student support areas, gaining valuable perspectives on infrastructure standards and resource management.

USTP Balubal is grateful for the warm welcome and cooperation extended by both USTP campuses from Misamis Occidental, USTP Panaon and USTP Oroquieta. Their willingness to share their best practices, experiences, and resources greatly contributed to the success of the benchmarking activity. The insights gained will play a significant role in enhancing USTP Balubal’s academic standards and preparing for COPC accreditation.
