A Technology Communication Management (TCM) graduate of the College of Information Technology and Computing (CITC), USTP Cagayan de Oro is among the 52 women competing for the title of Miss Universe Philippines.
Vincy Vacalares is representing the city of Cagayan de Oro in the said pageant. The 22-year-old completed her bachelor’s degree from this University in 2017, before earning her Certificate of Teaching from the same university. She has since been teaching art at the Corpus Christi School.
Vincy is not a new face in the pageant industry. She was crowned Miss Cagayan de Oro third runner-up in 2019, Miss El Salvador City Misamis Oriental in 2015, and Miss Camiguin in 2016. She represented the University during the Mr. and Ms. Mindanao Association of State Tertiary Schools (MASTS) Games in 2016 and was crowned fourth runner up.
Being a teacher, Vincy’s advocacy is focused on improving the quality of education for children in the city. Her goal is aligned with City Mayor Oscar Moreno’s focus on building more schools to address classroom shortage.
The Miss Universe Philippines coronation is on May 3 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
