About the Winning Project

CardioScope is an AI-integrated, wireless digital stethoscope designed for early detection of mitral valve disease, one of the most underdiagnosed cardiac conditions in the Philippines. With its data-driven diagnostics and accessible hardware-software design, the project aims to support Rural Health Units (RHUs) and geographically isolated communities where access to cardiology specialists remains limited.

This marks the first time in USTP’s history to win the top prize in this highly competitive national innovation program—positioning the University as one of the country’s rising leaders in science-and technology-driven innovation.

The BPI–DOST Innovation Awards is a national program jointly organized by the BPI Foundation and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to honor outstanding student innovations that embody scientific excellence, technological creativity, social relevance, and real-world applicability.

This national victory places USTP at the forefront of youth-led health innovation and highlights the growing capability of the BS Data Science program in producing solutions that are data-driven, evidence-based, and innovation-led.
