In a ceremony marked by a shared vision for the future of education, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines and Universitas Multi Data Palembang (UMDP) formally entered into a strategic partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on September 29, 2025. The event, which included the USTP Panaon Information Technology Department, marks a significant commitment to creating a dynamic and globally competitive learning environment.

The leadership of both institutions highlighted the profound significance of the partnership in their ceremonial addresses. Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, President of USTP, framed the agreement as a pivotal step for modern education. He stated, “The MOA signing between UMDP and USTP is the start of a concrete initiative that makes learning a dynamic and inclusive process, strengthening the global competitiveness of learners in the 21st century. This is a testament that we are declaring global collaboration.” He emphasized that this declaration is designed to actively encourage student mobility, pioneering research collaboration, and continuous faculty development.

Echoing this sentiment with palpable enthusiasm, Dr. Yulistia, S. Kom., M.T.I., Rector of UMDP, shared her personal excitement for the partnership’s immediate launch. “I am excited to kickstart a lecture as the first lecturer in this collaboration,” she announced, underscoring her hands-on commitment. She further expressed that her “sincere commitment is that this sharing of information will enrich ideas for USTP and UMDP students through teaching and research,” framing the partnership as a two-way street of intellectual enrichment.
Dr. Leny Q. Añasco, Acting Campus Director of USTP Panaon, elevated the occasion by reflecting on its deeper meaning. She described the MOA as “not only a formal commitment but also a celebration of the partnership we are fostering in the field of academic collaboration,” noting that both institutions are sharing a clear mission and vision in advancing higher education and our institutional roles.
This robust alignment of vision and mission will be immediately activated through a joint webinar titled “Navigating the Digital Frontier,” scheduled for October 17, 2025 (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM). The webinar will feature Dr. Yulistia presenting “From Data to Decisions: Unlocking the Potential of Artificial Intelligence,” and USTP Panaon’s Janepol G. Ballard, MSIT, lecturing on “From Threats to Trust: Advancing Cybersecurity on Practices.”
The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signifies a shared commitment to academic excellence and internationalization. By combining the strengths and expertise of UMDP and USTP, this partnership is poised to cultivate a new generation of innovators and leaders ready to thrive in the global digital economy.
