UPAA, CCIR–Panaon jumpstarts Alumni Talks 2022

USTP Panaon Alumni Association (UPAA), in partnership with the Career Center and Industrial Relations (CCIR) of the USTP Panaon campus, conducted the Alumni Talks 2022 last May 6, 2022, at the Function Hall of the said campus. The partnership gives way to a more robust collaboration in bringing the services to the university’s graduating and alumni constituents.

Mr. Ding Guilmar C. Subsuban, UPAA President, welcomed all the participants for the morning and afternoon sessions. He also highlighted the successful activities and UPAA plans for the current year.

The graduating students under the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLE) major in Home Economics and major in Industrial Arts programs attended the Alumni Talks’ morning session, where Mr. Christopher R. Balaba, the Head of Academic Affairs, bestowed his inspirational message to the students. The UPAA invited the following speakers for the said session:

  • Johnny M. Beloy – Administrative Officer V, DepEd Misamis Occidental Division
  • Marvelous T. Uba – Teacher I, DepEd Misamis Occidental Division
  • Cherry Ann Acohon – Teacher I, DepEd Misamis Occidental Division

In the afternoon session, the graduating students from the Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology (BSMB) and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) programs attended. Mr. Celso C. Almirol, the Administrative Head, gave his inspirational message to the attendees. Six (6) speakers were also invited for the afternoon session, three (3) for each program.

For BSMB:

  • Virginia P. Valde – Aquaculturist III, BFAR Provincial Office, Misamis Occidental
  • Efifanio M. Salaguste, Jr. – Supervising Agriculturist, Provincial Agriculture Office, Misamis Occidental
  • Darwin S. Macalisang – Extension Officer, DENR PENRO Coastal & Marine Ecosystem Management Program.

For BSIT:

  • Sergio D. Empleo III – Branch Head, Palawan Pawnshop, Panaon, Misamis Occidental
  • Jhon Cedrick Madula – AlphaSys Philippines, Ozamis City
  • Jenelyn B. Cordova – AlphaSys Philippines, Ozamis City.

The speakers shared their journey as students, the qualities every Trailblazer must possess in the world of work, their struggles in looking for a job, and their success stories. The essence of the program is to boost and encourage the graduating students to dream big dreams and continue to wave the flag of USTP higher and prouder even after graduation. The orientation of the Career Center and Industrial Relations Office (CCIR) and USTP Panaon Alumni Association (UPAA) then followed.

The whole-day event significantly uplifted the graduating students’ confidence. The UPAA and CCIR Panaon then expressed their gratitude to all graduating students who attended the Alumni Talks 2022.
