USTP advances quality Engineering education with PTC-ACBET review visit

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) welcomed the Program Evaluation Team (PET) of the Philippine Technological Council – Accreditation and Certification Board for Engineering and Technology (PTC-ACBET) on November 24-26, 2025. The team visited the university to review its engineering programs and see how USTP works to keep improving.

The College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) of USTP Cagayan de Oro organized the visit, led by Dr. Israel A. Baguhin, CEA Dean. Support was also given by Atty. Dionel O. Albina, USTP CDO Chancellor; Dr. Jocelyn B. Barbosa, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, USTP Cagayan de Oro, and Dr. Lory Liza D. Bulay-og, Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA), USTP System. They expressed their support for the activity, highlighting its significance in advancing USTP’s engineering programs.

During the three-day review, the team met the USTP Vice Chancellors, Program Chairpersons, CEA Dean, Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Officer, Laboratory Coordinators, Faculty Members, Personnel, and Students in selected engineering programs including Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computer Engineering.

At the exit meeting, Engr. Federico A. Monsada, head of PTC-ACBET, commended the USTP’s work and encouraged the university to keep improving its programs. He also announced that USTP has been recommended for program accreditation and recognition under the Washington Accord.

This accreditation shows that USTP provides quality education and strong engineering programs. It also reflects the university’s ongoing effort to grow and give students the best learning experience.
