USTP Alubijid Boosts Career Awareness and Skills Development for Students

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Alubijid, Misamis Oriental (USTP Alubijid) through the General Education Unit successfully conducted the extension activity with a theme, “Trailblazing the Path: Empowering Senior High School and Grade 10 Students of LANHS Through Career Awareness and Skills Development,” on March 21, 2025, at Lourdes Alubijid National High School (LANHS). The seminar aims to empower students with vital knowledge and abilities to help them navigate their professional path by giving insights into employment.

The event includes interactive discussions and engaging activities to enhance the participants’ career preparedness. Key topics covered included:
Path to Employment – Discussed by Ms. Lobelle M. Ragandang on resume building and job interview strategies on how to create professional resumes that highlight their skills and experiences effectively. Mock interviews were conducted to equip students with confidence and essential interview techniques.
Decision-Making Strategies for Career Planning – Ms. Kimberly Maratas guided the students in assessing their skills and interests to help them make well-informed career choices. The session included goal-setting exercises to help them map out their professional paths.
Mental Health & Stress Management – Ms. Sarah Kaye S. Visande led the discussion on identifying stress triggers, adopting coping mechanisms, and maintaining mental well-being.
Work-Life Balance and Self-Care – Ms. Princess Janice S. Roces let the students explore effective time management strategies and self-care practices to maintain a healthy balance between academic responsibilities and personal life.
College Admission & Scholarship Opportunities – Mr. Joenel Lusdoc guided the students in pursuing higher education and shared information on college application processes, financial aid, and scholarship programs.


The students show active participation through asking relevant questions and interacting with speakers. The career dress-up showcase added excitement, as students confidently presented their dream professions, reflecting their aspirations and motivation for future careers.

Students gained important insights into skill development and career awareness from the exercises given to them. Engaging discussions and thought-provoking activities gave students useful information and inspired them to make the best choices for their career.
