The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Balubal, Misamis Oriental (USTP Balubal) through its Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLED) program, successfully held its Practice Teaching Culmination Ceremony on March 31, 2026 at Balubal National High School, marking a significant milestone in the journey of 30 pre-service teachers. Anchored on the theme, “An End That Marks a Beginning: From Practice Teaching to Professional Purpose,” the ceremony celebrated the completion of the students’ field-based training while symbolizing their transition into the teaching profession.
In his opening remarks, Balubal National High School Head Mr. Edwin O. Mamba underscored the importance of practice teaching in shaping competent and dedicated educators. The highlight of the program was the presentation of the 30 pre-service teachers, who were recognized before an audience composed of BTLED faculty, cooperating teachers, and school personnel.
Representing his fellow interns, Mr. Ian Marvin C. Belecario delivered an inspiring message reflecting on the challenges, growth, and meaningful experiences gained during their practice teaching. His speech emphasized resilience and the importance of passion in pursuing a career in education.
Certificates of Completion were formally awarded to all 30 pre-service teachers by Practice Teaching Coordinator Mr. Joe Jr. L. Cagatin, MTTE, signifying the successful fulfillment of their training requirements. In addition, selected student leaders received recognition for their contributions. Cooperating teachers were also honored for their mentorship and invaluable support in guiding the interns.
Ms. Bernalyn Grace C. Alvarez, BTLED Program Head and Head of Academic Affairs, delivered the closing remarks, reaffirming the institution’s dedication to producing competent, value-driven, and purpose-oriented teachers. She encouraged the graduates to carry forward their knowledge, skills, and sense of responsibility as they enter the profession.
The culmination activity not only recognized academic accomplishment but also strengthened the professional identity of the aspiring educators. It reinforced USTP Balubal’s commitment to excellence in teacher education and its partnership with local schools in shaping the next generation of learners.
As these newly trained educators step into the field, they bring with them not only academic preparation but also a renewed sense of purpose—to educate, inspire, and make a lasting impact in their communities.
