USTP celebrates centennial with year-end general assembly and fellowship

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) celebrated its annual Year-End General Assembly and Fellowship on December 19, 2025, at the DRER Memorial Hall in Cagayan de Oro. The event reflected on significant milestones and progress under the theme “Our Past to Our Present – The Spirit Lives On,” marking USTP’s centennial anniversary.



Taking part in its 100th anniversary centennial celebration, this year’s event kicks off the “Reflect” centralized theme, bringing all teaching and non-teaching staff across the USTP System to a fruitful and vibrant assembly while also staging a dress code “Retro” (1970-1980). The event was divided into two parts: the General Assembly in the morning, solely for discussion of the university’s financial status, policy orientation, and open forum, and the Fellowship in the afternoon, highlighting retiree appreciation and the USTP Banat Fest. 

Atty. Dionel O. Albina, Chancellor of USTP Cagayan de Oro, delivered a heartwarming opening remark highlighting the milestones of USTP in putting all their efforts into excellence and innovation. Meanwhile, Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II, USTP System President, delivered his official message as he extended his gratitude to all teaching and non-teaching staff in their dedication and effort for the entire year.  

 

Dr. Vanessa V. Ascano, Vice President of Finance and Resource Management, USTP System, presented the university’s financial status. Meanwhile, Mr. Jericho Ian Guerrero, Director of Human Resource and Management Office, USTP System, presented the administrative cluster 

 

Leading the policy orientation for the academic cluster is Dr. Lory Liza D. Bulay-og, Vice President for Academic Affairs, USTP System. Dr. Apolinario B. Gonzaga, Vice President for Research, Innovation, and Extension, USTP System, discussed the policy orientation on the research cluster. 

An interactive open forum was then held spearheaded by Mr. Jerwin Borres, faculty of the Technology Communication Management (TCM) wherein participants were able to grasp questions pertaining to the current processes in the university. Finally, Dr. Renato O. Arazo, Chancellor of USTP Claveria delivered his closing remarks stressing on the communion of the entire USTP System built and strengthened by one vision. 

 

In the afternoon, the stage lit up for the lively Fellowship hosted by Dr. Remedio B. Janier and Mr. Marc C. Bacayo wherein all participants engaged in various games and fun skits taking chances on different raffles and prizes. Apart from this, a retiree appreciation moment was also held spearheaded by Mr. Jericho Ian O. Guerrero. The fellowship offers a vibrant experience along with the warmth, celebration of camaraderie and hard work all constitutes throughout the year.

 

The USTP Year-End General Assembly and Fellowship 2025 concluded with a disco unity jam and a community “salo-salo” (celebration), reflecting USTP’s rich culture and acknowledging a fruitful year while looking forward to a hopeful and successful year ahead.
