USTP Civil Engineering Students triumph at GERTC Quiz Bowl 2025

Students from the Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Cagayan de Oro (USTP CDO) won top spots in the Gillesania Engineering Review & Training Center (GERTC) Mindanao-Wide Quiz Bowl 2025 held on July 16, 2025, at the DRER Memorial Hall, USTP CDO.
Angel Joy N. Calicdan and Rowel Anthony D. Budiongan triumph as 1st place winners, receiving a ₱20,000 cash prize, medals, and a free review and refresher course from GERTC. Meanwhile, Gene Gerard B. Baculpo and John Carlo H. Madjos placed 2nd, earning ₱10,000 cash prize, medals, and the same scholarship.
Their achievement was made possible through the guidance of Engr. Aniceto C. Neri, MEP-CE, who served as their mentor and coach. The university also thanked Engr. Diego Inocencio Gillesania for his generous support of the event.
The College of Engineering and Architecture, with the College Dean Dr. Israel Baguhin and Civil Engineering Department Chairperson Dr. Jonathan Calibara, congratulated the students for their excellent performance.
This victory shows their hard work and reflects the University and Department’s strong commitment to academic excellence.
