The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) celebrated the impressive athletic achievements of its students during the first Monday Convocation on April 7, 2025. This event took place at the University Student Lounge and honored the hard work and dedication of USTP Claveria’s track and field athletes. These athletes recently earned multiple medals at various competitions at the Araw ng Davao Athletics Festival Season 3, held at the University of Mindanao in Maa, Davao City, from March 28 – 30, 2025.

Fee Lofranco emerged as one of the university’s top athletes. She secured a silver medal in the Women’s 5,000-meter run and a bronze in the Women’s 1,500-meter run, earning praise from both fellow athletes and spectators for her endurance and determination on the track. Her accomplishments highlighted the university’s growing presence in competitive athletics and set an inspiring example for other students.

The Women’s 4×400-meter relay team, which included Lofranco, Princess Niña Luardo, and Abby Decena, also shone brightly, clinching a bronze medal. Their strong teamwork and synchronization were on full display, as they demonstrated exceptional skill and determination to secure a podium finish.

The Men’s 4×400-meter relay team, composed of Place Sunday, Rick Bayta, Jenerson Acot, and Rogelio Supangan Jr., also added to the university’s growing medal count, capturing a bronze medal in their event. The team’s solid performance emphasized the spirit of unity and collaboration that USTP Claveria fosters among its athletes.

Adding to the excitement, the mixed relay team—consisting of Rick Bayta, Jenerson Acot, Fee Lofranco, and Princess Niña Luardo—earned a silver medal in the 4×400-meter mixed relay. This event, combining both male and female athletes, showcased the university’s inclusive approach to athletics and highlighted the strength of teamwork across genders.

These recent victories are a testament to the dedication, discipline, and perseverance of USTP Claveria’s student-athletes. With each medal earned, the university continues to build a proud legacy in athletics, inspiring future generations of students to strive for excellence in both academics and sports.

The athletic accomplishments were a major highlight of the convocation, and the recognition of the athletes underscored USTP Claveria’s commitment to nurturing well-rounded individuals who excel not only in the classroom but also in athletic pursuits. The success of the university’s track and field teams was made possible with the relentless support from the Sports Office through its USTP Claveria Director for Sports, Dr. Richmund Palma, and the strong support from the administration headed by USTP Claveria Chancellor Dr. Renato O. Arazo.
