The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria), in partnership with the Student Movement for Christ International (SMCI), held a two-day seminar titled “You’re Worth Waiting For” on April 10–11, 2025, at the 3rd floor of the Administration Building. The event was attended by all first-year students and focused on topics often left out of the classroom—self-worth, responsible decision-making, and the value of waiting for the right time and the right person.

The seminar centered on abstinence education, highlighting the importance of saying “no” to premarital sex, not just as a moral choice but as a wise and practical decision. Speakers from SMCI guided students through the emotional, physical, and financial challenges associated with early relationships and unplanned parenthood. They shared personal stories, meaningful insights, and thought-provoking questions that encouraged students to reflect on their values and future goals.

What made the sessions especially engaging was the interactive format. Students weren’t just passive listeners—they were invited to participate in open discussions, share their thoughts, and talk about what they had learned. Some students even stood up to speak in front of their peers, bravely expressing how the seminar challenged their perspectives and helped them understand the importance of purity, intentionality, and personal growth.
The message of the seminar was clear: “You’re worth waiting for.” It wasn’t just a slogan—it served as a reminder that everyone deserves love rooted in respect, maturity, and commitment. And while the topic can be sensitive, the seminar addressed it with grace, honesty, and a genuine concern for the students’ well-being.

The OSA extends its heartfelt thanks to SMCI for their time and dedication, and to all the students who demonstrated openness and maturity throughout the event. As the university continues to promote the holistic development of its learners, this seminar stands as a meaningful step toward fostering a campus culture of self-respect, integrity, and hope for the future.
