The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria), through its Milk Processing Plant, successfully carried out the second round of milk distribution to various integrated schools across the municipality of Claveria, Misamis Oriental, on March 18, 2026, reinforcing its commitment to child nutrition and community development.
The initiative is part of the university’s ongoing support for the school-based feeding program, in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the National Dairy Authority (NDA), which aims to improve the health and nutritional status of elementary learners, particularly those identified as undernourished. Previous distribution efforts have already benefited hundreds of schoolchildren in the municipality’s three school districts.
During the second round of distribution, fresh, nutritious milk produced by the university’s processing facility was delivered to recipient schools, ensuring a steady supply of dairy to complement daily meals. The activity highlights the role of USTP Claveria as a key partner in advancing food security and nutrition interventions at the grassroots level. The Milk Processing Plant, equipped with modern pasteurization, homogenization, and cold storage systems, ensures that all milk products meet quality and safety standards before reaching beneficiaries. These processes preserve the nutritional value of the milk while maintaining freshness throughout distribution.
University officials emphasized that the continuation of the milk distribution program reflects USTP Claveria’s mandate as a state university to extend its research and production capabilities to the community. As an institution with agriculture as a flagship program, the campus actively integrates innovation, extension services, and local partnerships to address pressing societal needs.
The second round of distribution further strengthens collaboration among USTP, DepEd, local government units, and partner agencies, ensuring that more schoolchildren in Claveria receive essential nutritional support. Stakeholders remain optimistic that sustained implementation of the program will contribute to improved learning outcomes, better health, and overall well-being of young learners in the municipality.
With continued efforts and partnerships, the USTP Claveria Milk Processing Plant is poised to expand its reach and impact, bringing quality dairy products closer to communities and helping build a healthier future for Filipino children.
