USTP Claveria, DENR leads Environmental Quiz with Primary Schools

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria), in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), held the Mt. Balatukan Day Environmental Quiz Bee at the Function Hall, Administration Building, USTP Claveria on March 5, 2025. This competition not only tested the students’ knowledge but also ignited a sense of responsibility for the environment in the hearts of young minds.

The event brought together eight local elementary schools, each with a team eager to showcase their environmental knowledge and passion. The quiz bee, organized by the Department of Environmental Engineering of the College of Engineering and Technology, USTP Claveria, covered critical topics such as conservation, biodiversity, and sustainability, all vital components in the ongoing battle against climate change.

For the students, it was more than just a competition; it was an opportunity to shine and demonstrate their commitment to safeguarding the planet. The eager faces of the participants reflected their excitement as they navigated through rounds of questions designed to test their understanding of pressing environmental issues. The atmosphere was charged with energy, and the intensity of the competition was matched only by the determination of the students.

After an intense and exciting competition, Kalagonoy Integrated School claimed the championship title, impressing everyone with their deep knowledge of environmental topics. Mananom Bag-o Elementary School secured the first runner-up spot, while Aposkahoy Elementary School took second runner-up place, underscoring the USTP’s commitment to honing the academe in environmental actions beyond the classroom.
