USTP Claveria engages SHS students in pre-immersion orientation program

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) through the Office of the University System President, successfully conducted the Work Immersion Orientation for Senior High School students from Dr. Gerardo Sabal Memorial National High School, San Roque Parish High School, and Kalingagan National High School in Claveria, Misamis Oriental on November 3, 2025.
The activity marked the beginning of an exciting and meaningful journey for the students as they prepare to enter the real world of work—applying the skills, knowledge, and values they have learned beyond the classroom walls. Serving as the emcee of the program was Ms. Cherrie Mae Tapere Perater, a Kalahi-CIDSS beneficiary, who warmly guided the participants throughout the event.
Present during the orientation were key university officials, including Dr. Renato O. Arazo, Chancellor of USTP Claveria; Dr. Alexander L. Ido, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs; Dr. Gulanes, Vice Chancellor; and Ms. Zenelyn S. Labay, Director of the College of Job Placement Services (CJPS), along with OJT Coordinators, faculty and staff, students, and visitors.
In his welcome remarks, Dr. Alexander L. Ido encouraged the students to make the most of their work immersion experience, highlighting the importance of discipline, professionalism, and perseverance in developing a career-ready mindset.
Meanwhile, Ms. Zenelyn S. Labay, CJPS Director, served as the resource speaker, delivering an insightful discussion on “Creating Professional Image and Internship Mindset: Professionalism in the Workplace and the USTP Trailblazer Code of Conduct.” Her talk emphasized the significance of work ethics, proper behavior, and self-image in shaping students for future employment opportunities.
As part of the orientation, Mr. Renan C. Octavio, OJT Coordinator from the College of Agriculture, presented the area assignments and provided a detailed overview of the students’ deployment and expected tasks during their immersion.
The orientation ended on a positive note, with students expressing excitement and readiness for the next phase of their learning journey. The event underscored USTP Claveria’s commitment to bridging academic knowledge with real-world applications—helping prepare the next generation of professionals and innovators.
