The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria), joined the 75th Araw ng Claveria celebration on July 22, 2025, as the municipality marked a historic milestone with a vibrant town parade. USTP Claveria proudly marched alongside various contingents, showcasing its strong presence and support for the Charter Day festivities.

In accordance with Republic Act No. 11133, which declares July 22 of every year a special non-working holiday in Claveria, Misamis Oriental, the celebration commemorates the town’s founding anniversary. Enacted on November 9, 2018, the law institutionalized “Araw ng Claveria” as a day of reflection and festivity for its people.

Faculty and staff of USTP Claveria assembled at the designated area, joining the Local Government Unit of Claveria, headed by the newly elected Honorable Mayor Dr. Reynante L. Salvaleon, together with groups from local barangays, educational institutions, agencies, civic organizations, cultural and religious communities, and business establishments.

Leading the USTP contingent were Chancellor Dr. Renato O. Arazo and Vice Chancellors Dr. Dennis T. Yamuta (Administration and Finance), Dr. Argin A. Gulanes (Student Affairs), Dr. Alexander L. Ido (Academic Affairs), and Dr. Eric Randy R. Politud (Research and Innovation). They were joined by the deans of the three colleges, directors from various administrative and academic units, as well as faculty and staff of the university.

A key highlight of the festivities was the Street Dancing Competition of the MAIS Festival, where various “tribes” from different barangays showcased Claveria’s deep agricultural roots. Dancers wore vibrant costumes and told stories of corn— from planting and harvesting to processing— through expressive movements and rhythmic choreography. The performances highlighted the town’s identity and its close ties to this staple crop.

USTP Claveria’s participation underscored the university’s ongoing commitment to community engagement, local pride, and cultural preservation. Faculty and staff proudly carried the USTP banner, walking shoulder to shoulder with the people of Claveria to celebrate the municipality’s 75 years of history and progress.

The 75th Araw ng Claveria parade was more than a festivity—it was a vivid reflection of the town’s enduring spirit, a tribute to its heritage, and a celebration of the shared dreams of its people, marching forward together.
