The two-day conference gathered educators and academic leaders from various institutions across the country to explore strategies for implementing Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL). This approach connects students and faculty from different countries through virtual collaboration and intercultural learning.
Representing the campus were Engr. Louriejean L. Alfar, Head of the International Affairs Office; Dr. Maribel S. Tizo, Dean of the College of Engineering and Technology; Ms. Daisy Jane M. De Arca, faculty member of the College of Arts and Sciences; and Mr. Jaymark M. Lantud, faculty member of the College of Agriculture. The event opened with keynote sessions from international speakers, including Hope Windle of the SUNY COIL Center, Dr. Nor Zainiyah Norita Binti Mokhtar of UiTM Pagoh Campus, and Dr. Rachel Woods of Baylor University.
Discussions focused on expanding global learning opportunities, fostering connections among classrooms, cultures, and communities, and cultivating ethical global leadership in multicultural academic environments. On the second day, participants engaged in design laboratories where they developed prototype COIL course modules aimed at integrating global perspectives into their teaching practices. USTP Claveria delegates actively participated in panel discussions and workshop sessions.
Through its participation, USTP Claveria reaffirmed its commitment to internationalization and the adoption of innovative teaching approaches that prepare students for global citizenship and cross-cultural communication.
