The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) reaffirmed its commitment to safety and disaster resilience by participating in the 2025 Second Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on June 19, 2025.

The drill involved students, faculty members, non-teaching personnel, and administrators from the university in a coordinated exercise designed to enhance awareness and preparedness for major earthquakes. When the alarm sounded, participants calmly followed the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” procedure, which was succeeded by a guided evacuation and headcount in designated safe zones.

Emergency Response Teams were deployed to oversee the simulation, assess the efficiency of the responses, and ensure the smooth execution of the activity. Incident commanders and focal persons led the coordination efforts.

The activity was organized by the USTP Claveria Incident Management Team (IMT), headed by Ms. Fides Joy N. Pabua, in collaboration with Ms. Aiza Go Icalina, the Campus Safety Officer at USTP Claveria. This activity served as a timely reminder of the university’s role in promoting a culture of preparedness, proactive risk reduction, and shared responsibility during times of crisis.
