In celebration of cultural diversity and identity, the faculty, staff, and students of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) showcased ASEAN-inspired attire during the Monday convocation held on May 5, 2025, at the University Student Lounge.

The themed attire highlighted the rich tapestry of Asian heritage, showcasing garments influenced by traditional styles from the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Cambodia, and other ASEAN countries. Participants dressed in culturally inspired attire, reflecting the university’s advocacy for cultural appreciation and inclusion.

The convocation formally opened with an invocation, followed by the Flag Speaks, the singing of the National Anthem, and a short reflection that emphasized the importance of embracing one’s roots while respecting the diverse traditions of others.

USTP Claveria Chancellor Dr. Renato O. Arazo commended the initiative as a meaningful way to foster unity through cultural awareness.“The way we dress today is not just for style—it’s a visual reminder of our shared histories and identities. By wearing ASEAN-inspired attire, we celebrate the threads that connect us across the region,” Dr. Arazo said.

This cultural expression aligns with USTP Claveria’s ongoing commitment to promote inclusive education and multicultural understanding as part of its broader mission to develop globally competitive and socially responsible citizens. The event concluded with a group photo session, capturing the vibrant display of attire and spirit.
