The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) continues to strengthen its commitment to agricultural education and rural development as its Sumilao Extension Class received a donation of academic resources from the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA) on October 13, 2025. The initiative supports USTP Claveria’s ongoing efforts to advance learning and innovation in agriculture across Bukidnon.

Established in 1966 under the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), SEARCA is a non-profit regional center dedicated to promoting agricultural education, research, and rural development in Southeast Asia.

The donation included thirty-two (32) books, monographs, guidebooks, and proceedings; six (6) professorial chair lecture series; sixteen (16) discussion papers; ten (10) policy papers and development notes, including policy briefs; and six (6) additional titles from the Asia Rice Foundation.

The Sumilao Extension Class expressed its heartfelt appreciation to SEARCA, led by Director Dr. Mercedita A. Sombilla, AKRU Head Leah Lyn D. Domingo, and Knowledge Services Unit Program Assistant Arlene A. Nadres, for their generosity. Gratitude was also extended to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Sumilao, headed by Municipal Mayor Hon. Venice Marie P. Villo, for sponsoring the freight cost of the donated materials.

This meaningful collaboration not only enriches the academic resources of the Sumilao Extension Class but also reinforces the shared vision of USTP Claveria and SEARCA to empower rural communities through knowledge-sharing, research, and sustainable agricultural development.
