USTP Claveria student-athletes triumph in Mindanao-regional sport events

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria (USTP Claveria) brought pride in the Mindanao-wide athletics competition at the 3rd Kadayawan Davao City on August 9-10, August 21-25, and September 13, 2025—bagging awards, medals, experiences, and stories to tell.

Princess Niña Luardo, who raced her heart out in the 400 m at the University of Mindanao Track Oval in Matina, Davao City, on August 9–10, 2025, proudly fielded against a tough field, bagging a 3rd place, and putting the USTP Claveria on the podium at one of Mindanao’s biggest athletics events. Ark Tibalbag and Darell Kim Ganzan battled their way to the quarterfinal. Meanwhile, Andrew Lubguban and Niel Leones also fought hard and reached the quarterfinal round. For all four, it was more than just a tournament—it was a chance to sharpen their skills, test strategies, and show that USTP Claveria can compete with some of the best players in the region.
Finally, the team of five triumphs at the Xavier Ateneo Sports Centre Track Oval in Cagayan de Oro City on September 13, 2025. USTP Claveria’s track and field squad turned in outstanding performances that earned them the First Runner-Up Overall Standing.


- Arnel Basas – Double Gold in the 5,000 m Run Open Elite and 1,500 m Run Open Elite
- Rogelio Supangan—Double Silver in both events
- Princess Niña Luardo – Gold in the 400 m and Silver in the 800 m Women’s
- Jeo Honayon – Silver in Javelin Throw
- Josh Tan Peligro – Bronze in Shot Put
- Russell Anthony Andam – Silver in the 800 m Men’s and key member of the 4×400 m Relay Men Elite Bronze Team alongside Place Sunday, Rick Bayta, Daryle Baclaan Alolino, and Jenalyn Donsig Acot
