In a heartfelt effort to support students facing food insecurity, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria), through its Student Advancement Growth Opportunities and Programs for Knowledge Advancement and Development for Academic Success and Individual Growth (SAGOP-KADASIG) Program, launched a Community Pantry Initiative that provides rice assistance to students in need. This initiative was made possible through the support of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Claveria and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO), headed by Ms. Shiela May T. Pagaling-Tagle.
The initiative was officially announced on February 21, 2025, through the USTP Claveria Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Services (OVCSAS) Facebook page, marking the start of rice distribution at the Guidance Office. Students struggling with food insecurity were encouraged to claim their share, and many have already received the much-needed support.

Beyond this initial assistance, additional nearby LGUs with student constituents in Claveria have committed to joining the initiative, ensuring that more students will benefit in the coming weeks.
USTP Claveria expresses its gratitude to LGU Claveria and its partner municipalities for their generosity, as well as to the university staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes. This collective effort is a testament to the strong sense of community of USTP Claveria, where looking out for one another is not just an ideal but a shared responsibility.
