The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) officially partnered with the DOST-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing for the project “AgriCircle: Advancing Urban and Peri-urban Agricultural Connectivity in Metro CdO” on January 21, 2025, at the Office of the President, Administration Building, USTP CDO. The ₱5-million grant will develop a web-based portal that will bring together farmers, consumers/buyers, input sellers, and support agencies from the government and academe in one platform for the purpose of enhancing the hyperlocal food system in the region.

USTP System President Dr. Ambrosio B. Cultura II and DOST-PCAARRD Executive Director Dr. Reynaldo V. Ebora led the signing ceremony. The project focuses on developing a web portal that integrates farmers, consumers, input sellers, and support agencies from the government and academe into one platform, designed to enhance the hyperlocal food system in Metro Cagayan de Oro.

The AgriCircle project is led by a multidisciplinary team, headed by EnP Angelie Azcuna Collera. The project team includes Dr. Apolinario B. Gonzaga, Jr. (Agriculture Expert), Ms. Marylene S. Eder (IT Expert), Engr. Ulrich Lee F. Uy (Electronics Communication Expert), and Ms. Maydene V. Demesana (Young Farmer).

Through this collaboration, USTP continues to champion technological interventions that bridge the gap between local producers and the consuming public.
