The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) achieved another significant milestone after receiving the Platinum Award from the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) during the ITSO Presidents’ Summit held on March 25, 2026, at the Ann Margaret Ballroom, Diversion Hotel, Iloilo City.

For three consecutive years, USTP has consistently earned the Platinum Award, demonstrating sustained excellence and leadership in innovation and intellectual property (IP) management.

Anchored on the theme, “15 Years of Strengthening the Philippine TISCs: Innovation and Creativity Toward Sustainable Technology Transfer,” the summit highlighted the critical role of ITSOs in promoting innovation and sustainable development in the country.

As a recognized Innovation and Technology Support Office (ITSO), USTP continues to deliver high-impact IP services by strengthening IP awareness, increasing patent and utility model filings, and advancing technology commercialization initiatives. This recognition affirms the University’s ability to meet and exceed IPOPHL’s highest standards in IP generation, protection, and utilization.

The award was received by Dr. Venessa A. Garcia, Director of the Technology Promotions and Commercialization Office (TPCO), and Engr. Gladdy Christie H. Compasan, PECE, ITSU Manager, whose leadership continues to drive USTP’s innovation ecosystem forward.

This achievement reflects USTP’s continued commitment to transforming research into real-world solutions and fostering a culture of innovation that contributes to national development.
