Culminating the 2026 National Women’s Month celebration, the Library Services of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental (USTP Jasaan), in collaboration with the Gender and Development (GAD) Unit, conducted a series of student-centered activities from March 24 to 27, 2026, anchored on the theme “Lead like the Babaylans: Filipinas!”

The initiative aimed to promote awareness of women’s leadership, deepen appreciation of women’s roles in society, and encourage students to express their support for gender equality through creative, research-based, and reflective outputs. It also provided a platform for students to showcase their talents while emphasizing the role of women’s empowerment in nation-building and community development.

A series of competitions highlighted both creativity and advocacy. The Hulagway: A Silhouette Poster Making Contest showcased artistic interpretations of women’s strength and leadership across various sectors. The Kasayuran: Infographics Making Contest featured research-based visual outputs highlighting inspiring Filipino and ASEAN women leaders, while enhancing students’ digital communication skills. Meanwhile, the Sinulat: Written Narratives About Women provided a platform for participants to reflect on the roles, sacrifices, and leadership of women in families, communities, and society.

Complementing these activities was the Sugilanon: Tales of Filipino and ASEAN Women, a pre-recorded storytelling initiative that highlighted the experiences of women leaders and change-makers. The activity promoted themes of courage, resilience, leadership, and cultural appreciation through digital storytelling.

The activities drew active participation from students across various academic programs, fostering collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. The initiative also reinforced the University’s commitment to gender-responsive programs and inclusive learning environments.

The success of the celebration was made possible through the collaboration between Library Services and the GAD Unit, with the support of faculty evaluators from the General Education Unit and partners from Jasaan Senior High School, who contributed their expertise in assessing student outputs.
