USTP Jasaan participates in earthquake drill, observance of Fire Prevention Month

With the theme “Sa Pag-iwas sa Sunog Di Ka Nag-iisa,” the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental (USTP Jasaan) joined the First Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) and Fire Safety Simulation Drill on March 25, 2024.

Students and faculty engaged in the drills, led by the USTP Jasaan Incident Management Team (IMT) and School Disaster Risk Reduction Committee. The exercises aimed to prepare everyone for potential disasters and raise awareness about safety protocols before, during, and after earthquakes and fire incidents.

The representative and officer-in-charge of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) of the Jasaan Municipality, Marshall Antonio E. Salugsugan, along with the Office Head of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LDRRMO) III Jasaan Municipality, Eugene P. Bajao, conducted a basic safety tips session on “Duck, Cover, and Hold” during incidents. The USTP Jasaan IMT led by Engr. Brian D. Genon and the School Disaster Risk Reduction Committee joined the session.

The USTP Jasaan IMT and School Disaster Risk Reduction Committee continue to prioritize readiness and preparedness in safeguarding lives and property and evaluating the efficiency of the school’s emergency plan.
