Faculty, staff, and students of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Jasaan, Misamis Oriental (USTP Jasaan) actively participated in the 1st Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) held on March 13, 2025. This initiative complies with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Region X Memorandum No. 059, s. 2025, and the directives of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

The drill was led by Mr. Marlix E. Dacer, Campus Security and Safety Officer of USTP Jasaan, alongside the Incident Management Team (IMT) Safety Marshals and security personnel. Participants executed the Duck, Cover, and Hold techniques to simulate the appropriate response during an earthquake. Due to the ongoing construction of the covered court, the designated temporary evacuation site was in front of the administration building.

The activity aimed to assess the efficiency of preparedness plans, evacuation procedures, and emergency coordination. As a member of the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Region 10 (RDRRMC-X), USTP Jasaan joined other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in nationwide efforts to strengthen disaster preparedness.

USTP Jasaan remains committed to promoting a culture of disaster resilience, ensuring that its community is well-prepared for real emergencies. The university will continue its participation in future earthquake drills as part of its ongoing disaster risk reduction efforts.
