In line with CHED Memorandum No. 027, s. 2026, and pursuant to Proclamation No. 907, which declares the annual observance of National Anti-Hazing Prevention Week, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Jasaan (USTP Jasaan) conducted an Anti-Hazing Awareness Seminar on February 13, 2026, at the USTP Jasaan Covered Court.
The seminar was attended by students enrolled in the National Service Training Program (NSTP). The activity aimed to raise awareness of anti-hazing laws, educate students on the dangers and consequences of hazing, and promote a culture of respect, safety, and responsible leadership.
The session was led by PSSg Lehzen Quessa P. Racho and PCpl Meriam C. Lood, who discussed the legal and social consequences of hazing. Students were reminded that hazing is strictly prohibited under Republic Act No. 11053, also known as the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018.
During the seminar, the speakers emphasized that the law regulates initiation rites and imposes stricter penalties on those who violate them. The discussion reinforced the importance of accountability, discipline, and student safety within organizations.
Through this initiative, USTP Jasaan continues to strengthen its commitment to protecting students’ rights and maintaining a secure and supportive learning environment.
