In a continued effort to strengthen collaboration between the academe and local government, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Services of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Claveria, Misamis Oriental (USTP Claveria) Dr. Argin A. Gulanes, paid a courtesy visit to Reynante L. Salvaleon, Municipal Mayor of Claveria, on February 23, 2026.

The meeting aimed to explore potential areas of collaboration and assistance that the Local Government Unit (LGU) could extend to students of USTP Claveria. Central to the discussion were initiatives focused on student welfare, transportation support, and other essential services that directly impact learners’ daily academic experiences.

Mayor Salvaleon, in turn, expressed openness to strengthening partnerships with the University, recognizing the vital role USTP Claveria plays in shaping future professionals and leaders of the municipality and beyond. The dialogue underscored a shared commitment to enhancing student support systems and fostering programs that create inclusive and enabling environments for learning.

The courtesy meeting reaffirmed the mutual dedication of both institutions to collaborative governance and community development. As USTP Claveria continues to expand its student services programs, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs and Services (OVCSAS) remains hopeful for sustained cooperation and meaningful initiatives with the LGU of Claveria—ensuring that students are provided with opportunities and resources that will help them thrive academically and personally.
