USTP opens short film and photography competitions for 2027 Centennial Celebration

In preparation for its 2027 Centennial celebration, the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) has opened two creative competitions inviting students, employees, alumni, and other stakeholders to document the University’s history, identity, and continuing development through film and photography.
The USTP Centennial Short Film Competition, themed “From Roots to Horizons: The USTP Story,” calls on participants to create films portraying the University’s journey from its beginnings in 1927 to its growth as a science and technology institution and its vision for the future. Through documentary or dramatized storytelling, entries are expected to highlight USTP’s legacy, contributions to people and communities, and aspirations for the next century.
The competition is open to currently enrolled students under the Student Category and to alumni, employees, and eligible mixed teams under the Open Category.
Meanwhile, the USTP Centennial Photo Story Competition, carrying the theme “Our Campus, Our Stories: Reflecting Life at USTP Today,” aims to capture the University’s present-day identity through authentic photographic narratives. Each campus will be represented by a team composed of one currently enrolled student and one USTP employee. Entries may feature campus life, learning environments, innovation, student activities, and community engagement, reflecting the experiences and culture that shape the University.
Both competitions provide opportunities for the USTP community to contribute to the Centennial celebration by preserving institutional memories and showcasing the University’s heritage, people, and campus experiences. As provided in the respective competition guidelines, selected entries will also become part of the University’s Centennial Museum and official digital platforms.
The deadline for submission of entries for both competitions is December 12, 2026.
