The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta), through its National Service Training Program (NSTP), successfully conducted a half-day Information Awareness Campaign on February 12, 2026, at the USTP Oroquieta campus’ Covered Court. This initiative was organized in partnership with the 10th Infantry (Steady…On) Battalion, the 1st Civil-Military Operations Battalion (1CMOBn, CMOR), and the Army Recruitment Office Mindanao, Philippine Army. The campaign aimed to enhance students’ awareness of pressing national issues and to promote responsible and informed citizenship among the youth.
The activity focused on key national concerns, including discussions on the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, awareness of Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) deceptive recruitment strategies, educational updates regarding the West Philippine Sea, and opportunities for military service through Army recruitment. Resource speakers provided comprehensive insights into national security, peace and order efforts, and the importance of safeguarding communities against misinformation and unlawful activities.
NSTP students actively participated in the sessions, engaging in open forums and meaningful discussions with the invited speakers. The interactive dialogue allowed students to raise questions, clarify misconceptions, and deepen their understanding of their roles as young citizens in nation-building. The campaign also emphasized critical thinking and vigilance, encouraging students to become proactive partners in promoting peace and development.
