USTP Oroquieta culminates 2026 Women’s Month with empowerment activities

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) successfully celebrated the culmination of the National Women’s Month on March 31, 2026, at the USTP Oroquieta Covered Court through a meaningful campus-wide event that highlighted the empowerment, resilience, and contributions of women in society. 

The event commenced with an energizing aerobics exercise that aimed to promote wellness and activate the participation of faculty and staff. This was followed by the opening remarks delivered by the Head of Research, Innovation and Extension, Ms. Ma. Liberty B. Doncillo, who warmly welcomed the guest speaker and participants, setting a positive and engaging tone for the celebration.

The program was spearheaded by Ms. Romelyn C. Quizo, the campus Gender and Development (GAD) Focal Person, who led the successful implementation of the event in line with the campus’s advocacy for gender equality and inclusivity. The highlight of the celebration was the insightful talk of the guest speaker, Hon. Nanieth Maerl B. Acosta, the President of the Liga ng mga Barangay and Chairman of the City Tourism Council of Oroquieta City, who shared her experiences and perspectives on women empowerment, resilience, and self-worth. Her message inspired the audience to embrace their identity, recognize their value, and continue striving for personal and professional growth. 

The event fostered a sense of unity and appreciation for the role of women in shaping society. The Women’s Month celebration served as a reminder of the continuous journey toward equality and empowerment, reinforcing the campus’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all.
