USTP Oroquieta deploys Student Teachers to Public Schools

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) launched its teaching internship program by deploying 107 student teachers to public schools on February 3, 2025. In collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) Misamis Occidental and DepEd Oroquieta City Division, this initiative marks a significant step in providing practical teaching experience for aspiring educators.
The student teachers were assigned as follows:
- Misamis Occidental National High School (MONHS) – 20 interns
- Oroquieta City Central Elementary School (OCCES) – 15 interns
- Misamis Integrated School (MIS) – 10 interns
- Oroquieta City National High School (OCNHS) – 30 interns
- USTP Oroquieta – 32 interns
A second wave of deployment took place on February 14, 2025, with an additional 55 student teachers assigned to:
- Mansabay Alto Integrated School – 14 interns
- Aloran Trade High School – 13 interns
- Looc National High School – 11 interns
- Sibugon Integrated School – 17 interns
In total, the collaborative internship program equips 162 student teachers from USTP Oroquieta with invaluable hands-on experience, preparing them to excel as educators across eight (8) partner schools in Misamis Occidental Province. The program is overseen by USTP faculty members Ms. Jay Ann Abarquez, Ms. Maila Asim, Ms. Jelyn Ursaiz, and Mr. Bernardo Crisologo.
This internship program embodies the USTP commitment to fostering innovation, excellence, and transformative education. By equipping student teachers with real-world teaching experience, it advances its mission to nurture globally competitive professionals and promote sustainable development in education.
