USTP Oroquieta earns recognition for innovative STEM extension project

The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta), through its Department of Information and Technology (DIT), was recently honored with a Certificate of Recognition during the ASCENSUS SCIENTIAE MOSTHS Stakeholders Awards held on March 30, 2026, at the Ismael V. Bolando Memorial Training Center, Pines, Oroquieta City. The ceremony is organized annually by the Misamis Occidental Science and Technology High School (MOSTHS), recognizes institutions, organizations, and partners that have demonstrated exemplary support and strong collaboration in advancing education, science, and community engagement initiatives.
The recognition was awarded to the Department of Information and Technology for its outstanding contribution through its impactful extension project titled, “TechBridge: Strengthening STEM through Creative Technology and Robotics Research Collaboration.” The initiative has significantly enhanced community engagement while strengthening partnerships with MOSTHS through research initiatives and academic excellence.
The project was spearheaded by Ms. Jubilee Dagaang, Kilven Mark P. Badiang, Janice Ocampo, together with the Information Technology faculty. It highlights the university’s strong commitment to community development, knowledge transfer, and inclusive growth across Misamis Occidental.
Ms. Jubilee Dagaang, Program Chair of the Department of Information and Technology, received the award and expressed her gratitude for the recognition. She emphasized that the award serves as a testament to the campus’s dedication to delivering impactful projects that address local needs and contribute to regional progress in information and technology innovation.
With this recognition, USTP Oroquieta continues to strengthen its role as a key driver of development in Misamis Occidental, reinforcing its mission to extend knowledge beyond the classroom and into the communities it serves.
