The Research, Innovation, and Extension Section of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) held a digital skills training through Project LAMDAG for the Oroquieta City’s barangay secretaries and treasurers. The training was made possible through a remarkable collaboration with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Oroquieta City and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) on February 22-23, 2025, at USTP Oroquieta.

The two-day training included engaging and informative sessions designed to elevate participants’ technical expertise. Topics ranged from fundamental skills, like Microsoft Word, to advanced areas such as Excel, and Cybersecurity, spearheaded by USTP Department of Information Technology faculty, DICT experts, and IT student interns. The dynamic team of computer experts maintained an energetic and interactive atmosphere throughout the session.

Participants actively immersed themselves in the activities, demonstrating eagerness to learn and connect. The positive and collaborative environment fostered not only skill-building but also valuable networks within the community.

Project LAMDAG’s inaugural success marks the beginning of a brighter, digitally empowered future for the community as the campus remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable quality education, reducing inequalities, and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all. By empowering local communities with modern digital skills and fostering partnerships with government and industry, USTP underscores its role as a catalyst for sustainable development and a brighter, more connected future for Oroquieta City and beyond.
