The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) recently participated in the conduct of the Faculty Mentoring-Coaching Program, Faculty Onboarding and Career Upstart Seminar (FOCUS), and Instructional Material Development Training-Workshop facilitated by the Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning (CITL) of the USTP System last October 1-2, 2025, at the campus library. The training workshop aimed to strengthen the faculty mentoring-coaching while equipping teachers with the basic techniques in developing interesting teaching and learning materials in line with modern trends of education.

Engr. Carl Angelo P. Suasola, CITL FOCUS program head, emerged as the newly hired faculty member with an understanding of the various features and stages of the EdApp platform. The instructors had the opportunity to learn about the essential features of the platform, including how to construct assessments and monitor student activity. The faculty was given hands-on experience, providing them with the opportunity to explore it.

In addition, Engr. Aileen A. Sieras, Program Head of CDIO and FMCP, facilitated the faculty in developing instructional material. Engr. Sieras emphasized the importance of creating high-quality, engaging, and effective educational materials that resonate with students. Through this session, faculty learned how to craft instructional content that meets the needs of today’s learners, making it both informative and engaging, highlighting its role in enhancing the teaching and learning process.

The training workshop provided a concrete opportunity for faculty to gain hands-on experience in content creation, digital tools, and developing instructional materials to meet the new challenges in an evolving educational sector. CITL has expanded its efforts to support and enhance faculty readiness in a rapidly evolving digital age.

By promoting these professional development opportunities, USTP faculty are well-informed and equipped to develop innovative materials for practical learning experiences.
