The University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines in Oroquieta, Misamis Occidental (USTP Oroquieta) made an inspiring mark at the Philippine Association for Teachers and Educators—Association of Student Teachers in Region 10 (PAFTE-ASTER) Annual Congress 2025 in collaboration with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), held at Capitol University, Cagayan de Oro City, on April 11, 2025.

Securing 7th place in the LET Quiz Bee Competition, the USTP Oroquieta truly excels in competing among 40 State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) from across the region. The USTP Oroquieta showcased its rising academic strength through impressive performances in key competitions. Trailblazers Ryan Magno and Regine Balustre, students both from the Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLE) major in Information and Communication Technology, showed their testament to their knowledge and their commitment to the competition.

Meanwhile, Azie Andrade of the same program brought home a remarkable 3rd place in the Lesson Plan Making Contest, further solidifying USTP Oroquieta’s competitive edge.

These achievements were backed by the dedication and guidance of their coaches, Ms. Maila Asim and Ms. Jay Ann Abarquez, whose mentorship played a vital role in the students’ preparation and success. Their unwavering support and commitment to academic excellence helped elevate the performance of the team on a highly competitive regional stage.
